A massive tank filled with molasses burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that swept through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, standing at least 25 feet in some areas, was devastating. Buildings were flattened under the weight of the treacherous goo.

The aftermath was tragic. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more were injured. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of molasses carnage in its wake.
